Tourism

Most travelers who visit Washington DC also finds time to visit Arlington as the two are linked by the Metrorail system. In order to avoid the crowd, it is best to visit the city during November to March. But if you wish to witness the Cherry Blossom Festival, you can visit in April. However, hotels can be more expensive especially during the week because of constant business travel. Visitors can reach the city via the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport or the Dulles International Airport. When getting around, it is advisable that you take the public transport service to lessen your expenses. You can take a bus, train or bicycle to explore the city.

2 dead after separate pedestrian crashes in Arlington, Va

Two elderly people have died this week after being hit by cars in two separate instances in Arlington, Virginia.

On Wednesday, a 77-year-old woman was struck at the intersection of Columbia Pike and South Four Mile Run Drive. Police said that the woman, identified as Martha Saltos of Arlington, crossed the northbound lanes of Columbia Pike against a red walk signal and was hit by an oncoming vehicle at around 9:30 a.m. Read more here.

Pedestrians should be aware of the danger of crossing streets and major highways. The latest news about the death of two pedestrians is upsetting considering that there are set rules on this. Although the drivers maintain a liability on the incident, you cannot put the whole blame on them. It’s just a good thing that they stayed in the scene of the accident until the police officers arrived. There are many inconsiderate drivers out there who will try to escape the scene and leave their victims. As part of the investigation, I wonder whether there were CCTV’s around so that authorities can get a clearer information on how these two separate incidents happened.
